Why hello there! How very nice it is to meet you!

My name is Fox.

I’ve never written a blog before – it took me a while to figure out what one even was. But it sounded quite nice, so I thought I’d give it a try.

You see, I was sitting in the garden with my good friend Laura this afternoon and just pondering about life. The sun was shining down all warm and happy, and there we were, just sitting there, enjoying things.

Laura was telling me of how happy she felt now that she had finished her college course for the summer holidays. She told me of all the work she’d had to do and, quite frankly, it made me feel exhausted just listening to her.

But then I started thinking that actually, it might be quite nice to try to learn something new – I’ve always quite liked writing.

Laura had tried to enrol me at her college once, but it didn’t go well. The interview was a bit silly in my opinion. I had to try an English exam and a Maths exam and then after aaaaaalllllll that work, the interview lady said that because I have no GCSEs, I couldn’t go.

GCSEs?

“What’s a GCSE?” I asked, “Where can I buy one?”
“No, no,” She tutted, rolling her eyes, “they’re something you earn.”
“Earn? So, I work for a GCSE?”
“Yes. You work towards taking your exams, and then you’ll get your GCSEs.”
“So, I take an exam?”
“Yes.”
“Didn’t I just take 2 exams?”
“Well, yes…”
“So can I have a GCSE?”
I think the lady got a bit confused there, because she said it didn’t work like that. She said to take those exams I’d need to go through lots and lots and lots of extra school and homework, and even MORE exams...

She said that "the feeling of a good, smart, educated mind is worth all the hard work."

So, I decided to write a blog instead.

Laura told me that it’s this little space on the computer where you can write a diary, or stories or poetry, and other people can read it if they want to.

Kinda strange, but I like it.

Sure beats just sitting around on the sofa and watching Friends with a cup of tea.

So, we finally set one up today, and here we are.
